Molly Wichman, personal trainer in Lee's Summit, shares health and wellness tips for fitness & health. Today it is Holiday Season & Social Health
The holidays bring joy and connection, but let's be honest—they can also leave us feeling drained. Between family gatherings, parties, and never-ending to-do lists, it's easy to lose sight of what we actually need.
True social health isn't about maximizing your calendar. It's about nurturing relationships
that genuinely support and energize you.
A few reminders as we move through this season:
Set boundaries without guilt. Saying "no" to certain events isn't selfish—it's how you preserve the energy to show up fully where it counts.
Choose depth over breadth. You don't need to be everywhere. Spend time with people who genuinely lift you up, not just those who expect your presence.
Protect your alone time. Whether it's a quiet morning walk, getting lost in a book, or just sitting with your thoughts over coffee, carve out moments to recharge. Your well-being depends on it.
Notice the good. Take time to appreciate the moments and people that matter. Gratitude has a way of shifting everything.
The holidays don't need to be perfect—they just need to feel right for you. Stay grounded in what matters, honor your limits, and give yourself permission to do this season your way.
And make sure to take the time to slow down and laugh during the holiday season...and everyday!
